BEHIND THE LENS: THE MAKING OF ME, MYSELF & I

A documentary series built around real people, real experiences and the power of being heard.

Every documentary begins with an idea.

For Me, Myself & I, that idea is simple: everyone has a story, and every story deserves the opportunity to be heard.

Created by WalknTalk, this original documentary series aims to explore the personal experiences, challenges and defining moments that shape people's lives.

But behind every conversation captured on camera is something equally important: trust.

MORE THAN A CAMERA

Documentary filmmaking is about much more than cameras, lighting and microphones.

It is about listening.

When somebody chooses to share their experiences of mental health, neurodiversity, trauma, wellbeing or life's challenges, they are sharing something deeply personal.

Their experiences deserve to be approached with dignity, sensitivity and respect.

That is why Me, Myself & I is being developed around individual, one-to-one interviews, giving each contributor space to speak about the experiences they choose to share.

There is no expectation to tell a particular kind of story, and no requirement to discuss anything they are uncomfortable sharing.

THE VISION BEHIND THE SERIES

As the founder of WalknTalk, I have seen how important it can be for people to feel heard.

Sometimes, a conversation can challenge assumptions. Sometimes, hearing somebody else's experience can help us understand our own.

Through this documentary series, I want to create something that goes beyond a traditional interview.

I want viewers to see the individual behind the experience.

Not simply a diagnosis, a struggle or a moment in someone's life, but the person as a whole.

Our ambition is to create documentaries that encourage understanding, challenge stigma and open conversations that might otherwise never happen.

THROUGH THE NEURO LENS

Filming and production for Me, Myself & I will be carried out through Through The Neuro Lens.

The aim is to bring a professional, cinematic approach to personal storytelling while ensuring the focus remains on the contributor and their words.

The visual approach will be intimate and understated.

Carefully considered lighting, thoughtful camera work and a quiet interview environment will help create a setting where each story can unfold naturally.

The equipment matters, but the person sitting in front of the camera matters far more.

ONE PERSON. ONE STORY. THEIR WORDS.

Every documentary will focus on one individual.

Rather than assigning predetermined topics or titles, each film will develop around that person's experiences.

The title of each documentary will be chosen after the interview, reflecting the contributor's individual journey.

No two stories will be the same, because no two people are the same.

THE JOURNEY AHEAD

We are currently developing the series, speaking with prospective contributors and preparing for filming.

As the project progresses, we will share updates through The Journal, including insights into the filmmaking process, preparations for interviews and behind-the-scenes photographs.

We look forward to sharing more about the journey as it unfolds.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE INVOLVED?

We welcome expressions of interest from adults aged 18 and over who would like to explore sharing their personal story.

Participation begins with an information pack and an optional pre-interview questionnaire, providing an opportunity to learn about the project before deciding whether to proceed.
